Hi,

What is the best thing to do with my quarantine set up (100 gal) till next year. Do i leave it running with no fish in it or empty it complectly and restart it next time i need it ,hopefully i will not suffer any injurys over the winter and do not plan on buying any more fish till next april.

any advice please.

Well I am a great believer that they are better left running as the water quality will remain in good quality and the tank is ready in any emergency could try growing a few on in the winter in it.

My advice is to leave it running m8. it will be sods law that you empty it and will then need it.
The alternative is to take out the filter material and put that into your main filters to keep it active (level of activity will depend on if the main pond is heated or unheated). Empty the q. pond and if you go need it then pump main pond water into the q. tank. Downside of this is possible cross contamination from main pool to q. tank which obviously is not as bad as contamination from q. tank to main pond.
Does that make sense?
If not the pm me your number and I will try to explain it in more detail
