To take my 'step-daughter' up to Ikea in Bristol. Her and her boyfriend are renting a flat together as from the beginning of November and she needs to furnish it. They've got most of the stuff together, but I'm taking her up just to get the finishing touches - the things kids don't think of at all when they have to set up home: "Have you got towels?" "errrr, no". "What about a bin for the kitchen?" Nope. "Things to cook with - kitchen utensils and pans and stuff" "errrr, no - I want some of those pirates bowls too". Me: "Pirates bowls? What on earth do you mean?" Her: "You know, those clear glass ones you can put in the microwave"..... Yes, she meant 'pyrex'!!! Bless her! Discovered she also needs tea towels, curtains, lamps, rug, iron, ironing board... the list is endless. So we're leaving the blokes at home (to finish the pond!!!!!!) and going shopping for the day.

I had to read back over my post from this morning, and yes, I was right - I knew I'd say that we were leaving the blokes at home to finish the pond. Why then, at 2 o'clock, did I return home with a car full of tables and rugs and kitchen stuff to an empty house, an empty garden and a completely unchanged pond... To be followed in twenty minutes later by Chris saying "errr, you know that new telly we were on about.... well I just went and bought it"!!! And in he came with a 42" plasma screen HD TV with surround sound speaker system and black glass stand. That's the last time I leave THEM at home to get a job done (Nice telly though!!)
