Thats fine, I have now covered with a large corregated sheet of clear plastic, it will certainly not let any jump out but lets as much light in it would uncovered! It should also help keep the heat in, it's very well aerated so thats not an issue.

The first priority is to cover. There are no ifs and buts about this it is a MUST.

As Tam says the more natural light the better for colour development but this can be recovered with correct feeding and conditions when back in the normal pond.

Hi dave get as much light in as you can m8 u cant bear natural light for the colour of the fish;)

I have just started a 100g QT, it is well filtered and heated, it is in a garage which is not heated but well covered from wind rain etc, I have made a cover from mesh that allows air in and out but not much light.

My first Question is do I need a cover, are they actualy going to jump out? Is it likely? (filled about 4" from top)

My second Question is if I have the cover on not much light is getting in, I have an ordinary half glazed door that lets in daylight but if they are covered with the mesh its fairly dark in there all the time, is this a problem?:hehe:
