The South East Section has decided to run our August Show independently of the BKKS and has informed the President of the Society of this decision this evening. As many will be aware we have been in conflict with the current Council for some time and despite attending all the relevant meetings in the correct capacity there has been no communication or response from the Council to any of our concerns.
This year’s 21st Open Show will be re-branded the South East International Show.
Judging will be undertaken by an International team from Belgium, South Africa and the Netherlands led by Mike Harvey an Assistant Certified ZNA Judge, one of only a handful of westerners to reach this level within their hierarchy.
Health matters will be overseen by Bernice Brewster who was instrumental in formulating the South East’s procedures when working on our show between 1989 and 2000. Bernice is a Fellow of the Linnaen Society, Chartered Biologist, Member of the Institute of Biology, Member of the Institute of Fisheries Management and Chartered Environmentalist has an IdQ in freshwater fish and undertaken PSYM training for pond and lake survey work
The show will continue to be run to the high standards of BKKS which this Section has been happy to follow and pioneer.
If any exhibitors that have already confirmed their attendance are unhappy with this decision we ask them to contact our Show Chairman as soon as possible. Indeed we ask all potential exhibitors to return their booking forms as soon as possible. 57 were sent out and there are only 40 vats so it will be first come – first served.
