should i turn off my 60l helia air pump and put on my koi air 25l for the winter

i am not turn the air off completely as i have the air stones in the filter and the koi seem much happier with it on.

last year i turned it off for 3 weeks had to turn it back on they didnt do to well with it off

u could reduce it with your smaller air pump as u dont really need that much as u do when they are more active in the summer n the demand for oxygen is greater i presume you are talking about in the pond here

if the filter then that depends on the media fluid k1 needs it turning over all the time ,

cant remember if your pond is heated or not saph have u covered the pond to keep the wind chill off as this will stop the water temp dropping too much

hi johno

right im not heated im covered  managed to quilt the kk too have you seen them pics

the air is in the flocor (ki convertion hopefully next year)

tam i want to reduce the air not totally turn it off had that experience and they didnt look well so not doing that again

i will have the koi air running the 3 air discs that are on the pump (so a column of air) and the air stone in the filter.

i will have to turn off the two air stones that are on the top ledge tho

its up to you really, the fish dont need any extra oxygen when the temp drops below 10c but it does help keep the ice off

the air chill from an air stone is negligable.

if you have air in the filter though that will need to be left on
